Features and Specifications
1952 MG T-Series --
TD13766 is truly a very original numbers matching 1952 MG TD. It has pretty much everything original, save for one respray in its original MG red and consumables. The red leather interior is in very well preserved state and, like a great leather Chesterfield or bomber jacket, continues to be usable in all of its glorious patina. The car is completely rust-free and the wooden structural elements are excellent. As you will see from the photos, the dash in all-original:... gauges, bakelite buttons, glove box lid and interior. Even the fabric lining is the original. The steering wheel is in beautiful condition and may have been refurbished. The chrome on the car is very strong. It shows wear as expected, but there is no flaking or major pitting. The paint has mellowed beautifully, with some crazing here and there. Small nicks and touch-up can be seen upon close inspection. However, the overall impression of the vehicle is very favorable and this TD can be enjoyed immediately without correction. Our shop has gone through the car and serviced it. Oil and filters have been changed. We tested the compression, which is excellent--see photo with numbers. The car starts up immediately in true TD fashion. The car does not smoke and it has the usual oil leaks like all British classics. The engine note is wonderful and can be heard in a video that is uploaded to our YouTube channel ItsAliveAuto. In addition to servicing and inspecting all systems, our shop has installed brand new tires in the correct size. The old Firestone spare tire is dry and is there as a period character item. All electrics work as designed: lights, blinkers, horn, gauges. Of note is the vintage addition of temperature gauge and metal surround above the indicator switch. This modification was made long ago and now adds to the charisma of this car. Under way, the car accelerates briskly and sounds wonderful. The brakes have been serviced and work as designed, stopping the car expeditiously and straight. The gear shifter is taut and shifting the TD is very satisfying. In all, this is glorious little motorcar that is ready for the next decades of service. MG TD's are wonderful to own and drive, with great owner clubs and online forums.
