Rare, straight, and original 1956 Packard “The Patrician†4-door sedan in original survivor running and driving condition. This has been a local two-owner car since new, always garaged, well-maintained, and loved. This is an extremely straight classic with beautiful bodywork and amazing brightwork. During the 1956 model year, only 3,375 Patricians rolled off Packard's production line before the model was dropped. The final Packard rolled off the Packard assembly line on June 25, 1956. This is truly a very rare, appreciating, and amazing classic. This car sold new for over $4,100.00; about half the average cost of a new home in 1956! To say that the Patrician was a high-line luxury car is an extreme understatement.
A two-owner local vehicle since new, second owner has had possession for over 35 years, and the miles are known to be original at 104,569. The car has never had rust; it’s been garaged-kept since new. The floorboards and rockers are virgin; a well-kept classic still in fantastic condition as you can see.
The dash is just about perfect, and truly the single most beautiful dash and instrument layout I’ve ever seen; amazing, rich, and highly detailed in all respects, from the leather dash pad to the engine-turned bezel, to the heavy chrome and gorgeous gauge faces. Beautiful. The original Wonder Bar radio and tube-amplified speaker are included in the buy-it-now price.
Mechanically original and still sound, she’s a sweet Sunday driver, weekend car show winner, and overall good-looking lady. The original high-performance 290 horsepower 374 cubic inch four-barrel engine is sound and smooth, the power curve solid, and the transmission shifts as it should. The genuine wide whitewall tires are in almost new condition, mounted on original steel wheels wearing original hubcaps, WITH an original spare in the trunk.
The body is as straight as you will find anywhere, with no rust, past or present. If you’ve been looking for the right collector Packard to purchase, this is the one. The rear deck lid has had a repair at some point, with old bodywork beginning to show through. there is one spot on the white roof where the paint has failed and shows the metallic Roman Copper paint underneath, and on the driver’s side there is a small dent in the roof above the door... all of these are pictured in the images. The brown paint appears to have been repainted once over the original; it’s a nice, older repaint and still holding up well... you’d have to look closely to know it was redone. The stainless trim and chrome are both extremely nice, and the glass unbroken all around with the exception of a crack in the driver’s side glass window.
The interior is in amazing condition, and features fantastic original seat upholstery, headliner, visors, door panels, etc. The front seat has had a clear plastic slip cover protecting it since new, and the rear seat has obviously been rarely used. The dash is truly just gorgeous. Basically the interior looks very close to new condition, as you can see, with the exception of some wear on the original carpets. Even the trunk wears its’ original mat, and still looks great.
This is an amazing and rare classic Packard that has held up beautifully. She is going to make someone very happy!
Clear title in hand, matches VIN exactly for export, inspection, etc.
While every effort has been made to describe the vehicle as accurately as possible, it is in fact a 61-year-old classic vehicle, and therefore being sold as-is, without warranty or guarantee expressed, written, or implied. Please keep in mind, while state-of-the-art in its’ day, this is a relatively primitive vehicle by modern driving standards, and used at that... please expect minor issues that would commonly be associated with a well-maintained classic vehicle of this era.
Please be ready to make payment in full within 3 days of auction’s end via deposit into my Bank of America account, or bank wire transfer.
Shipping is the full responsibility of the buyer; I own a classic car restoration shop and can recommend a reliable and affordable broker who I have used many times... ultimately the choice must be yours alone.
