2005 Mitsubishi MonteroThe previous owner had the engine rebuilt (lower end) about 1,000 miles ago and provided me with the shop receipt, which I can provide to the purchaser. At the same time, the previous owner said that he replaced the timing belt and water pump. After I purchased it, I had new tires, front brake calipers and a new radiator installed. The driver's seat belt was frayed so I had the entire assembly replaced. It has the Infinity sound system (with a new subwoofer) and a very large moonroof. It looks good and runs well. It is clean with no odors. The plastic panels in the rear have several scratches from previous owners but don't look to bad. It runs smoothly and I am not aware of any issues except the ones listed below.
I bought the vehicle to use to haul large boxes and bakery supplies, but it is too small. I have now purchased a Chevy Express cargo van and need to sell the Montero. It is a nice vehicle and I wish I could keep it--for the excellent 4wd if nothing else. It has the 7 passenger seating although it is not shown in the photos. I removed the third row seats and have them in the garage and will install them when it sells. They are in very nice condition.
The spare tire is in very good condition.
Issues I am aware of:
1) The TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) dash light flashes. When Goodyear Auto Pros mounted the new Kumho radials, they also replaced one of the TPMS units. They were not able to make the units communicate and said that I would have to go to a Mitsubishi dealership to have it reset. The nearest dealership is over 2 hours away and I'm not going to make a special trip just for that.
2) The front heater does not put out hot air. It gets warm, but it takes it a while. The rear heater only puts out cool air. I took it to two repair shops and they both said I needed to replace the heater cores. Both shops back flushed the heater core and blew out some crud, but they weren't sure how long it would last before it collected more crud. They flushed the entire cooling system with water as well. They think a previous owner may have put in some radiator stop leak and it is collecting in the heater cores and radiator. I had the radiator replaced with a new one but the repair shop wanted over $1,200 to replace both heater cores. I bought aftermarket front and rear heater core replacements with the idea of replacing them myself. It turns out to be a difficult process (for the front heater core--the rear looks much easier) and I lost my motivation (plus it is cool and rainy here and I don't have a good place to do the work). I will include both heater cores with the vehicle for the new buyer.
3) Very small chip in center of front windshield.
4) Driver side passenger door check (plastic part that holds the door open) is worn. Replacing it involves removing the door panel and I have not had the time to do it. I have the replacement part and will include it with the vehicle.
Pick up or shipping is the responsibility of the buyer.
I am advertising the vehicle locally and it might sell locally before the auction is over. A local sale will take priority over an Ebay auction.
