1962 Lotus Super Seven

1962 Westfield SEight

In the spring of 1982 historic grand prix competitor and engineer, Chris Smith decided to design and build a replica of one of his all-time favourite race cars, the gorgeous 1956 Lotus XI Le Mans car. Such was the accuracy and beauty of the car he produced in his home garage at Westfield House in the UK, he was immediately inundated with requests from enthusiasts wanting one for themselves.

By the following Easter in 1983 the company Westfield Sportscars had been created. In 1991, Westfield expanded again moving to the impressive factory and office block in Kingswinford where we are still manufacturing today. It was here that the incredible V8-powered SEIGHT first caused the earth to shake. With monster power and an incredible 0-60mph time of 4 seconds it was Westfield’s fastest machine thus far and received critical acclaim from the motoring press as one of the quickest cars to 60mph available.

This Westfield SEight, offered in the timeless British Racing Green, has been extensively worked on in the last couple of years. A recent rebuilt engine was installed with modifications to the cooling system by way of an additional fan keep the car cool, while enjoying the intoxicating power. Fresh carpet was installed, and seats were refinished with leather faces.

The car comes with complete weather gear in tan and in pretty much as-new condition.

The car drives perfectly, starting easily and is a surprisingly pleasant drive with masses of torque… until you step on it and all hell breaks loose. Unassisted brakes work well with oodles of feel, and suspension is not nearly as harsh as you would expect. It handles superbly well, the straight pipes sound like hell has opened up when you get up through the rev range and is the ultimate blast to drive.

Not many of the SEight Westfields were built, making this a rarity in the US. And with a clean, clear California title (as a 1962), possibly a unique car.
