1996 Land Rover Discovery Se7

After much deliberation and maybe even a few tears, we have decided to sell our beloved “adventure car”... after recently taking on a fairly large home renovation project that has left us with less time, money and room for the Disco we have decided that it would be better suited with a new owner, so here it is, soon to be, your very own... ADVENTURE CAR!!!! I was lucky enough to procure this 1996 Land Rover Discovery from its ORIGINAL owner from new, who also cared for and loved this car very deeply and it showed. This 1996 Land Rover Discovery SE7, commonly referred to as “the poor mans defender” is truly a unique vehicle, bursting with character and reminiscent of the original Land Rovers built specifically for driving through some of the worlds most challenging terrain. While most of us will probably never use these vehicles to their full potential, it is nice to know it’s there. We often designated this car as our “beach vehicle” and more often then not has been the choice car for getting us to work and the grocery store during some of the significant snow falls this past winter, and always the first pick for a Sunday drive. There is something satisfying about getting into and going for a ride in what is now almost considered a “classic” vehicle void of any modern technology and “bells and whistles” its simplicity is charming and soothing.... not to mention, you know you look pretty darn cool when driving it! Enough of that, the vehicle itself is actually in really good condition relative to what it is, an old Land Rover! It runs and drives pretty smooth, almost all, of not all, electronics and convenience features are in good working condition. Windows go up and down, door locks and latches, radio, moonroof, all in good working order. Have experienced a slow start from time to time but ultimately has not left me stranded. I have a couple of new parts that I thought might have contributed to that but they have not been installed yet and will come along with the car. The car DID overheat once on us but was the result of a hose clamp coming off that consequently did not deliver the coolant to the engine. It was repaired and did not cause any subsequent damage to the vehicle which has since been running great. Most notable potential need will be tires. Current tire have very good tread and are fine but do have some dry rot and may need to be replaced depending on how much driving you plan on doing. Overall condition though, given mileage, year, etc., is very good. No major rust to speak of, had car professionally detailed last year and it was brought to life and boasted a very nice shine. The only area of some paint fade could possibly be the roof. Does it have a few small scratches, dents and dings, of course ! Interior is very clean. Front seats were reupholstered a few years ago and look great. Dash is in good condition and headliner only has a little sag. NO roof leaks. I am not selling a museum quality car, HOWEVER, it would definitely lend itself to be the perfect platform to easily make it a perfect car. But overall, i would say an easy 7 out of 10 with good bones. Absolutely perfect of you’re looking to get into a Land Rover and use it the way we did for many years to come. The series one discovery’s particularly are benefiting from a steady increase in value as good ones become harder and harder to find. While they will probably not reach Defender level appreciation they will definite continue to go up and value and the sub $10k car in even marginal condition will become harder and harder to find. I have had Land Rovers for nearly 20 years, this is one of 3 in our driveway right now. If you are new to these cars please don’t hesitate to call or text me with any questions, I am happy to discuss. Happy bidding! And get excited to be the new owner of one of these truly special vehicles... Adam (631)236-8659
