Former Fire Truck
14,386 Original Miles!!!
Purchased new in 1989 by the Unity Township Fire Department (Columbiana County, Ohio) and was originally painted a type of Fluorescent Yellow. After a minor fender bender with 991 Miles on the truck in 1993, the East Palestine (Ohio)Fire Department purchased the truck from Unity and repainted it Red to match EP's Fire Trucks. This is the same paint which is still on the truck. The truck was used/garaged solely for the Fire Department and stayed that way until 2016 when it was given to the street department. The Fire/Emergency painted letters on the truck were mostly covered with vinyl "Street/Street Department" Signs. In 2011 service records were destroyed by the city. In its tenure with the city, the starter had been changed, the flywheel was turned down, and the front brakes were changed. Also, the tires were changed when legally required too (I believe it was every decade).
This truck is quite the head turner. It has a working Gall's "Traffic Buster- Code 3" siren/PA, Battery Tender/Ejection system still connected with quick release plug. Dual Unity H1 spotlights (bulbs out, but ordered). 454 is strong. 4 speed (3 speed with Low) shifts as it should.Tires are excellent. Super nice aluminum tool/bed railboxes with keys. Brake controller is installed on the truck- but I have not used it. Had the "upgraded" AM/FM radio for a work truck. Radio works perfect. This is one of the last of the GM Square Bodies. I have put about250 miles on this truck. My kids love it, and I really enjoy it too. I purchased it from East Palestine at auction. The Title is Clear and in my name. I will also continue to tinker with the truck until sale. I believe the vinyl Street Department coverings may be able to be pulled off to show the Fire Department markings.
The paint has some haze, scratches, dents, and overspray (from covering the Fire Department Lettering). There is small rust spots behind each rear wheel (as seen in the pictures). There are a couple of tears in the seats. No A/C in this truck, but the vents sure make it comfortable. I included a picture from a parade when the truck was still being used by the Fire Department, as well asa picture from the fire house. It does not have the Light Bar on it anymore.
Truck has 14,386 miles on it as of today, but I will drive it when the weather is nice (until sold) and miles will gently increase. There is/are no warranty(ies) expressed or implied. This truck is being sold As-Is, Where-Is. This truck is for sale locally, and the Auction may be ended by me at any time. $1,000 Deposit must made via Paypal within 24 hours. Sorry- no exceptions.
